A newly released beer by Atwater Brewery was created to honor the first brown trout in America and benefit Pere Marquette Trout Unlimited.

Six-pack bottles of “First Brown” are hitting store shelves now. Word is you can find it at Meijer stores, and it’s a very tasty smooth brown ale.

Portions of the proceeds go to support the efforts of PMTU on the Pere Marquette River.

Noted wildlife artist Derek DeYoung donated the use of his “4 Panel Brown – October” for the label. According to Derek, “This is a very special watershed, my hope is that we can continue to preserve this river for future generations. So, buy this beer, and you are supporting the mighty Pere Marquette!”
